Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion is the second and final part of the Baahubali film series, which is a two-part Indian epic fantasy action film directed by S. S. Rajamouli, who co-wrote the film with V. Vijayendra Prasad. It was produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the banner Arka Media Works. The film was released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and several other languages on 28 April 2017. The film is a sequel to Baahubali: The Beginning, which was released in 2015 and introduced the characters and the world of Mahishmati, a fictional kingdom in ancient India. The film follows the story of Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas), the son of the late king Vikramadeva, who falls in love with Devasena (Anushka Shetty), the princess of Kuntala, a neighboring kingdom. However, his cousin Bhallaladeva (Rana Daggubati), who covets the throne and Devasena, plots against him with the help of his father Bijjaladeva (Nassar) and his loyal slave Kattappa (Sathyaraj). The film reveals how Bhallaladeva usurps the throne and kills Amarendra Baahubali, and how Amarendra's son Mahendra Baahubali (also Prabhas), who was raised by a tribal couple, learns about his true identity and heritage, and vows to avenge his father's death and free his mother Devasena from Bhallaladeva's captivity. The film also features Ramya Krishnan as Sivagami, the queen mother of Mahishmati, Tamannaah as Avanthika, a rebel warrior who helps Mahendra Baahubali, and Subbaraju as Kumara Varma, Devasena's cousin and ally.

The plot of Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion

The plot of Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion can be summarized as follows:

  • The film begins with a flashback of Amarendra Baahubali's coronation as the king of Mahishmati, after his father Vikramadeva died during his birth. Sivagami, who acted as the regent until then, decides to step down and become his Rajamata (queen mother). She also announces that Amarendra Baahubali will marry a girl of her choice.

  • Amarendra Baahubali sets out on a tour of the kingdom to learn about its people and their problems. He is accompanied by Kattappa, his loyal slave and guardian. During his tour, he visits Kuntala, a vassal kingdom of Mahishmati, where he meets Devasena, the princess of Kuntala, and falls in love with her. He also saves her from an attack by Pindaris, a group of bandits.

  • Amarendra Baahubali proposes to Devasena and she accepts. He sends a message to Sivagami, asking for her blessings. However, Sivagami misunderstands his message and thinks that he is asking for her permission to marry Devasena. She agrees and sends an order to Devasena to come to Mahishmati as her future daughter-in-law.

  • Devasena refuses to obey Sivagami's order, as she considers it an insult to her dignity and independence. She also sends a reply to Sivagami, stating that she will only marry Amarendra Baahubali if he comes to Kuntala and marries her in front of her family and people.

  • Sivagami is enraged by Devasena's reply and decides to punish her for her arrogance. She also believes that Devasena is trying to create a rift between her and Amarendra Baahubali. She orders Bhallaladeva, who is the commander-in-chief of the Mahishmati army, to attack Kuntala and capture Devasena.

  • Bhallaladeva leads a massive invasion of Kuntala, with the help of his father Bijjaladeva, who provides him with a secret weapon: a huge catapult that can hurl burning balls of fire. He destroys Kuntala's defenses and kills many of its people. He also captures Devasena and her brother-in-law Kumara Varma, who tried to defend her.

  • Amarendra Baahubali returns to Mahishmati and learns about the attack on Kuntala. He is shocked and angry at Sivagami's decision and Bhallaladeva's brutality. He confronts Sivagami and tells her that he loves Devasena and that he will not marry anyone else. He also accuses her of being unfair and biased towards Bhallaladeva.

  • Sivagami is hurt and disappointed by Amarendra Baahubali's words. She feels that he has betrayed her trust and love. She also thinks that he has become arrogant and selfish. She declares that she will not accept Devasena as her daughter-in-law, and that she will make Bhallaladeva the king of Mahishmati instead of Amarendra Baahubali.

  • Amarendra Baahubali accepts Sivagami's decision and renounces his claim to the throne. He also vows to protect Devasena from Bhallaladeva's cruelty. He leaves Mahishmati with Devasena, Kattappa, and a few loyal followers. He settles in a remote village, where he lives as a simple farmer.

  • Bhallaladeva becomes the king of Mahishmati, with Sivagami as his Rajamata. He rules the kingdom with an iron fist, imposing heavy taxes and harsh laws on the people. He also tortures Devasena, who is chained in the palace courtyard, hoping to break her spirit and make her submit to him.

  • One day, Amarendra Baahubali receives a message from Sivagami, asking him to meet her secretly. He goes to meet her, hoping to reconcile with her and convince her to free Devasena. However, he is ambushed by Bhallaladeva's soldiers, who have been ordered by Bijjaladeva to kill him.

  • Amarendra Baahubali fights bravely against the soldiers, but he is outnumbered and wounded. He is stabbed in the back by Kattappa, who reveals that he is bound by a vow of loyalty to the throne of Mahishmati, and that he has been ordered by Sivagami to kill him. Amarendra Baahubali dies in Kattappa's arms, asking him to take care of his unborn child.

  • Kattappa realizes that he has been deceived by Bijjaladeva, who forged Sivagami's order. He is filled with remorse and grief for killing his beloved master. He tries to kill himself, but he is stopped by Sivagami, who arrives at the scene with Devasena, who is pregnant with Amarendra Baahubali's child.

  • Sivagami learns the truth about Bijjaladeva's and Bhallaladeva's treachery, and how they manipulated her against Amarendra Baahubali. She is devastated and ashamed of her actions. She declares that Amarendra Baahubali's child will be the rightful heir to the throne of Mahishmati, and that she will sacrifice her life to save him from Bhallaladeva.

  • Sivagami escapes from the palace with Devasena, Kattappa, and a few loyal soldiers. They are pursued by Bhallaladeva's army, who try to kill them. They reach a waterfall, where Sivagami holds up the baby in her arms and shouts his name: Mahendra Baahubali. She then jumps into the waterfall, hoping to save the baby from Bhallaladeva.

  • The baby is rescued by a tribal couple, who adopt him and name him Shivudu. He grows up in the forest, unaware of his true identity and destiny. The film ends with Shivudu climbing the waterfall, following a mysterious mask that falls from above.
